Drilling Out Aquariums

A diamond tipped bit is required to drill a hole through glass.  Below are some of the hole-saws/bits that we offer.  If you need a size that you don't see below, send us an email.  We offer economy bits that are good if you're drilling just a couple of holes.  We also have the better quality Deluxe bits that are a must if you'll be drilling more than just a couple of holes as they are tons easier to use.  The Economy bits don't have a perfect edge like the Deluxe bits, making it difficult to keep them from skating across the glass.

If you are in the Houston area and would like me to drill your tanks for you, please contact me by email to make arrangements.  The 'house-call' fee of $45.00 per hole includes bulkhead fitting. Email

As most of us are too busy to take the time to make such a tedious chore faster, Skylab Industries brings you a quick and simple way to drill out aquariums.  This device serves two purposes:  one, to act as a guide for the saw to cut through the glass with less slipping, and; two, to serve as a reservoir for adding coolant to keep the glass from chipping.  The gasket on the guide forms a seal against the glass to keep the coolant from leaking out.  Has a 3 inch diameter.

Only $26.00!!

Tempered Tanks

This is an email from Oceanic in response to my question about the tanks, if any, they put tempered bottoms in:

Christian,

Thank you for contacting Oceanic and for your interest in our products.  At this time, the Nature's View and E-Series lines have tempered glass (55, 58, 75, 125), the bow front aquariums have tempered glass (46, 72, 90, 175), and the corner bow front aquariums have tempered glass (54 & 92).  The Lizard Lounges also contain tempered glass, and some of our aquariums will be made with tempered glass in the future.  If you have a specific aquarium in mind, please let me know.  Also, please remember that drilling the aquarium voids the warranty.  If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.
