Internal Overflow Boxes
These overflow boxes are black acrylic.
| Due to the process of bending acrylic and because these overflows are handmade to your specifications, there may be slight variations from requested dimensions on occasion. These deviations are usually less than 1/4" off. |
| When ordering an overflow, please include the following info. in a message with your payment to prevent delays with your order: |
| ~ Exact height of the box. Read below to determine the height. |
| ~ Whether the overflow is for a glass or acrylic tank. |
| ~ Desired length and width of box (e.g. 6" x 6" ; 5" x 8" x 5"...) |
| ~ If ordering a 2-sided overflow that is not symmetrical (e.g. 6" x 8"), I need to know if you want the box cut for the back left or right corner. |
| ~ If ordering a 3-sided box and you want the sides bent at 45 degrees, I need the following info: width of the front of box; and distance the front of the box should be from the back wall of tank. If you want the 'spread' of the back of the overflow to be a certain width, include that too. |
| Be sure to check for overflow boxes on clearance! And don't forget to order your silicone or Weld-On to install your overflow (see below). |

One of the advantages of the internal overflows over the hang-on prefilters is flow rate. Because a deeper water column can develop in an internal box, a greater water pressure exists at the bulkhead pushing more water through/given time interval. So an aquarium drilled with a 1" hole for a drain will be able to drain more water out than a hang-on overflow with a 1" drain.
Because the water pressure in large aquariums can cause acrylic overflow boxes to bow-in, special boxes should be used. Generally, if the aquarium is more than 30" tall this is done. For large aquariums, a box is first made out of glass, then covered with acrylic ---> no bowing!

This is an overflow wall used to partition off the back part of a tank which can then be used as an in-tank wet/dry, sump, etc. To order one of these, simply order an overflow above with the nearest dimensions and include a note with your payment telling me to NOT bend the overflow. For a width of 14" or less, order a 2-sided overflow with the correct height. For a width greater than 14" order a 3-sided overflow with the correct height. |
